How can I book a session?

What age of children do you work with?

My sessions start from 2 and I accept children up to the age of 11.

Are your sessions term time only?

Accepted Answer

No, however we run our own termly system. Our aim is to run every session in a 3 month period (excluding bank holidays) and then offer an ad-hoc month whereby monthly members are asked which sessions they would like to run and if demand is high enough (minimum of 4 full day children) we aim to run those sessions.
Term 1 - January, February and March
Ad-hoc month: April
Term 2 - May, June and June
Ad-hoc month: August
Term 3 - September, October and November
Ad-hoc month: December

Question 4

My child is very shy/anxious. How will they be supported?

We specialize in "low-demand" environments. There is no pressure to join in activities at any point. Children are welcome to observe from the book nook or play independently within our spaces or alongside others until they feel ready to dive in. Our small group size (max 14) ensures the atmosphere remains calm and manageable.

Can I stay with my child, or is drop-off available?

Yes, you can usually choose what feels best for you and your child. If your child is happy to be dropped off, you are welcome to do that. If you would feel more comfortable staying, you are always welcome to stay too. For Otters Crafts and Play, drop-off is only available if your child is fully toilet independent. On some days, we may also have a space where you can work while your child attends.

What happens if we are unable to make a session?

As per our terms and conditions planned absences for holidays, trips etc need to be informed of with 2 weeks notice. However, for unplanned absences such as sickness we ask for as much notice as possible but refunds cannot be guaranteed and most sessions will not be refunded unfortunately due to fixed running costs. If a session can be rearranged we will do our best to organise this instead.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes! We love welcoming families. We offer a £5 discount for siblings attending the same session to help make the Hub and Otters more accessible for larger families.

Question 8

Where do your sessions take place?

My home education groups - Bowman Learning Hub and Otters Crafts and Play take place in Ashley Green within The Old School Hall site. We utilise the middle hall exclusively and also have open access to the outdoor area which includes a mud kitchen, tree swing and much more. We are also within walking distance of Ashley Green Memorial Hall Playground and Hockridge and Pancake Woods
1:1 tuition sessions take place either online through Zoom or at my home in Tring.

Question 9

What should my child bring to a session?

Please bring a water bottle and lunch, or any comfort items that help your child feel settled. For outdoor play, sensible clothes and wellies or a coat can be useful. If your child has a favourite book, toy, or learning interest they would like to share, they are very welcome to bring that too.

How do you support children with additional needs or sensory sensitivities?

Yes. You can share your child’s needs before they start, and every effort is made to help the session feel safe, calm and manageable. Bowman Learn And Play offers a low-demand, child-led approach, so your child can join in at their own pace and take breaks when needed.
